Privacy Policy (British Columbia — PIPA)

DRAFT — pending review by a BC privacy practitioner. Do not rely on until approved.

1. Who we are

Praevanta Safety, a British Columbia workplace health & safety software provider. Privacy contact: info@praevanta.ca.

2. What personal information we collect

3. Why we collect it

To operate the safety workflow (report → review → action → verification → evidence), coordinate early support, and produce review-ready records for the employer organisation.

4. Consent & statutory rights

Workers are told what is collected at the point of collection. Reporting a concern does not waive any statutory right, including the right to refuse unsafe work.

5. Health information boundary

Early discomfort records are segregated for support coordination. Employers see operational outcomes, not subjective medical diagnosis.

6. Anonymous reporting

Anonymous reports are synced without the worker's name or account identifier — the record shows "Anonymous". Anonymity is not absolute: what is written in the report, or shown in an attached photo, can still identify the author. Workers should avoid including identifying details in an anonymous report.

7. Who we disclose to

The employer organisation and its authorised H&S/HR roles; service providers (Google Firebase for hosting/auth/storage); and where disclosure is legally required.

8. Where data is stored

Stored with Google Firebase (Google Cloud). We do not currently advertise a Canadian data-residency guarantee; the current hosting region is available in writing on request.

9. Retention & deletion

A formal retention schedule is being finalised. Records remain available to the employer organisation while they are active in the workspace. You may request deletion as described below.

10. Security safeguards

See Security & Data Handling for the current factual safeguards.

11. Access & correction

Under PIPA you may request access to, and correction of, your personal information by contacting the privacy officer.

12. Complaints

You may complain to the BC Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner.

13. Updates
